Cody Acker hit a grand slam and Max Shannon’s three-run blast led Blake to a 14-1 win over 3A Division Rival Northwood.

Shannon’s homer, his third, capped the scoring in the second inning to get Blake off to a 5-0 lead. Chris Jaeger, who had three hits and scored three runs, started the scoring for Blake with a two-run single in the second.

Acker’s homer, the first of his career, wrapped up the scoring in a seven-run third inning for the Bengals as they opened a 12-0 lead.

Austin Malner, the career saves leader in Blake history, picked up his first varsity victory picking up four strikeouts and allowing just two hits before being relieved by Matt Present.

Jacob Gill reached base in every at bat and joined Jaeger with three-runs scored.

Blake is 4-2 and 3-0 in defense of their 2010 3A Division Title. The Bengals have not lost a regular-season 3A game since joining the 3A last year.

Blake has it’s toughest tests of the year coming up in closing out it’s MCPS 3A Division Schedule with the make-up of the Damascus game on Friday, April 8 and Clarksburg on Monday, April 11.
